Moving House Useful Information

Moving house can be very stressful but here at A2C we will do everything we can to make the process as easy as possible for you. Here is some useful information to help you prepare for the big day ! 

LIST –Make a list of everything you need to do so that you can tick things off as they are done and you don’t miss anything important.

CHILDCARE – If you can it would probably be best to organise childcare for the moving day and someone to look after any pets. You will need to be present on the moving day.

PACKAGING MATERIALS- Work out room by room how much packaging material is potentially required. We offer high quality removal packs for all different requirements so please refer to this section of our website. Alternatively, you can use our free eco tote boxes. 

PACKING- In the weeks leading to your move, start packing room by room ensuring you label all boxes so you know which rooms they belong to when unpacking. We would recommend waiting until the last few days before packing essential items.

OUT WITH THE OLD – Anything you do not want to take to your new home, now is the time to start organising through these unwanted belongings and either take them to the recycling centre/ charity shops or let us know and we can offer a disposal service for you in addition.

INVENTORY CHECKLIST – You may want to use an Inventory Checklist (Templates can be found online). We would recommend that you do not pack personal documents, jewellery and cash as you may need these during the removal or right after. If you do want to pack these items and any high value items e.g. expensive watch, we would also recommend doing an Inventory Checklist for them and packing separately.

STAY IN TOUCH- As your removal company, we are here to help you through the removal process so whenever you need advice please do not hesitate to get in touch at any time. We will establish the moving date when you first contact us BUT we appreciate that this often changes so we will always stay in regular contact with you until the finalised moving date is established. 

ON THE DAY - Please make sure our vans will have access to your property on the day and inform us in advance of any access restrictions. We will agree an arrival time with you in advance. 

Check every room to ensure that you have not left any items behind. Also turn off gas, electricity and close all the windows and lock the property at all points. Don't forget to take your final gas and electricity readings!

Some people also like to do a quick video of all the rooms in the property to document how to you left the property.
